Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad bin Abdul Majid (“Tan Sri Bashir”) is a Non-Executive Director of Malaysia Aviation Group Berhad and Malaysia Airlines Berhad since 12 August 2024 and a member of Board Operational Excellence and Reliability Committee. With experience in leadership roles in the aviation industry spanning over 50 years, Tan Sri Bashir is one of the few executives who has worked at a senior level in every aspect of the aviation industry. Tan Sri Bashir had previously served Malaysia Airlines for 29 years, starting as a Management Trainee in 1972 and worked in various areas of the airline before becoming Executive Vice President of the airline. From 2001 to 2003, Tan Sri served as Aviation Advisor to Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport. He was Managing Director of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad from 2003 to 2014 and continued as Advisor until 2017. Tan Sri Bashir was President of Airport Council International Asia-Pacific Region from 2010 to 2014. He was also a member of Airport Council International World Governing Board from 2008 to 2014. Bashir has extensive experience across the aviation industry, including airlines, airports, and government agencies. Currently, Tan Sri Bashir is the Non-Executive Chairman of MRT Corporation since April 2023. He is also advisor to the GMR group since 2018, Chairperson for Pusaka Intan Sdn. Bhd. and a Director of Bas3 Sdn. Bhd.
